Kettle Corn, stores passing out candy and the Courier Costume Contest. Went to HARPS annual picnic Sunday with my Mother and two daughters. I am so glad we made the trip. They had approx. two hours of entertainment including a Mini horse drill team, Police Dog exhibition, Andalusians and my daughters favorite Fresians- beautiful horses They also had food, vendors and horse rides for the younguns. Very easy to get to. Try it out next year. It's a great cause for our American History. Horses. WE SHOULD BE MOVED IN BY MARCH 1ST 2009! 2008 Events : OCTOBER 25TH 2008 HOOVED ANIMAL RESCUE PROTECTION SOCIETY (HARPS) FUNDRAISER Tidbit’s Mercantile (www.tidbitsmercantile.com) a Southwestern Gift Shop located at 703 W. Mt.Vernon (Rt. 116) in Metamora will be hosting a fundraiser for HARPS on Saturday October 25th from 11am until 6pm. HARPS is located in Barrington Hills, Il. and was founded in 2001 by Donna Ewing (founder and former director of the Hooved Animal Humane Society HAHS), one of the nation’s best known and respected rescuers of abused and neglected horses and other hooved animals. A couple of the items that Tidbit’s will be raffling off will be a horse mailbox valued at $130.00 and an overnight stay at the Par A Dice Hotel and Casino with a choice of breakfast, lunch or dinner for two in the Buffet. All proceeds from the raffles will go to HARPS. Tidbit’s will also donate 10% of all sales that day to HARPS. Any one wishing to donate items to raffle please contact Charlotte or Sonja at 309-367-4575. Some local area Cowboy Action Shooters will also be joining us for this great cause. Cowboy Action Shooters (CAS) are a great bunch of people who dress up in clothing from the late 1800’s and use period correct guns in shooting competitions. It’s a great sport for the whole family. They will be there to show off their clothing and guns and to answer any questions you might have about the competition. The local club for this event is the Chillicothe Sportsmen’s Club (Rivercity Regulators). Please join Tidbit’s Mercantile and The Cowboy Action Shooters on Saturday, October 25th and help “SAVE A HORSE” A link to HARPS web site is on my last page OCTOBER 25TH HARPS Fund Raiser at our store November 1st & 2nd East Peoria Gun Show The 45 Kid is back and has survived his first shot show. (He swears he kept his hands off the show girls)! He is thrilled with the new Pioneer Arms Hammered Double Barreled Shot Gun. He's been shooting one of the prototypes for about 5 years now.
